Lake Mead

The air conditioning was/we fixed.Tech's that came out could have done the old AMCO transmission commercial. It was a waste of $100 and I had to put together everything they took apart. It's a shame for an old man to be on the roof of the Coach in 107 degree sun. Oh Well.

Still affected by the barren desert like conditions at Lake Mead. At best it's a moon scape.

The Dam itself is quite impressive. we cannot go inside because the elevators and 1 escalators is broken. Never did get fixed in the 3 days we tried.


The first 150' on the intake tower is no longer usable. They're now drawing from the 300' level which is the bottom of the lake. The lake is only 1/3 full! That's the spillway in the middle. Little chance that will be used in the future.

The lake is so beautiful. It's disturbing to see what's happening to it. Each day it gets lower as the take out more than  what's coming in.

We went into the park again today. I am so glad we're here for 3 full days. The trails and views are magnificent. Almost to the narrows. Falcon above the ridge. Joanne with erosion  as a backdrop. It is "new" to the eye. The dark stone is "old" stone it is covered in desert varnish. Mother natures parallel lines a few million years apart. OMG Just another view that takes your breath away. Moving Day on to Capital Reef

We woke up to rain. First time in a long time.  We're glad it isn't snow and hope it isn't snowing in the mountains over near Capital Reef. We have one summit along the way that's 9,600 feet so it might be snowing up there.  Still raining up on the Hog Back but a little road work. In PA you worry about deer. In Utah you worry about "Open Range" cattle. Take it easy partner.

Zion

Went to dinner last night at the Zion Canyon Brew Pub. Jack and Nancy where there and recommended it. Great place thanks. This was the view from the back deck. Got JJ tire replaced. This is what the old one looked like. Momma mule deer and her 2 babies greeted  us. This overhang has to be 150'  This is Jacob Peak from the Court of the Patriarchs.
